Stow Lodge Hotel is situated in the picturesque hill top town of Stow-on-the-Wold, overlooking the large market square, with its assortment of shops, hotels, inns and houses, many built during the 17th and 18th century.  Steeped in history, the old 'stocks' and the 'market cross' remind us of medieval times when up to 20,000 sheep were hearded into the square for sale and the ancient Fosseway that passes through the town takes us back to Roman times.

St Edwards Church dates back to the 14th century and was once used as a prison for Royalist troops during the last major conflict of the English Civil War, that was fought outside Stow in 1646.
St Edwards Hall stands in the square and was built in 1878 as a meeting place, the steeple originally accommodating a bell which was rung to summon the fire brigade. Today the hall houses the town Library.

The town is an ideal base to stay when touring the Cotswolds with six major roads leading in different directions, one reason why the town is called the heart of the Cotswolds. Situated in such an ideal location with the Market Square and the narrow streets with historic architecture and interesting range of galleries and shops its no wonder why people return time and time again.
